Assassin’s Creed Mirage‘s depiction of Baghdad is filled with things to collect and stuff to do. Unsurprisingly, you can acquire a tidy sword collection as well. Many of these weapons are located in Gear Chests that have been spread around the world, but that isn’t the only way to acquire these pointy instruments of pain.
There is a sword associated with the contract missions, another is linked to those Mysterious Shards, and one is directly tied to your progression through the story. And that isn’t even getting into all their upgrades! Most of these swords have schematics linked to them that have been spread around the world in a similar manner. Well, we’re going to cover all of them. This is your one-stop-shop for all your Assassin’s Creed Mirage sword information.
For obvious reasons, we aren’t covering the Lightning Sword, Jinn Sword, Demon Claw, or Sand Sword here. You just… buy them.

Well, there isn’t much to say about this one. The Initiate of Alamut sword is the first sword you will obtain. Once you have been trained as an assassin, you will be given it. All the schematics are similarly given to you as you pass certain benchmarks in the main story.
You will obtain the first upgrade pretty early in the game. Once Ibn Musa sets up shop in your hideout, you will be given it. This will happen soon after you assassinate
The final upgrade won’t come for quite some time, as you will need to reach the Disciple rank. This rank isn’t affected by side content; in order to increase the sword’s rank, you will need to assassinate more targets.

Metal Factory Gear Chest
The Zanj Uprising Sword and all the schematics related to it can be found in gear chests located all around Harbiya. One of these chests is located on the second floor of the stable, next to the training grounds in the Metal Factory.
Soap Boiler’s District Gear Chest
Another is located in a stable in the Soap Boiler’s District. You will need to break through the weakened ceiling to climb up to it.
Damascus Gate Prison Gear Chest
The final Zanj Uprising Sword chest is located at the Damascus Gate Prison. This chest is under the bridge at the front of the prison, and will require you to break a barricade by throwing a dagger through a hole in the gate.

Abandoned Caravanserai Gear Chest
You will find the Abandoned Caravanserai in the “Wilderness West” section of the Wilderness. If you were to head directly west from the Muhawwal Gate, you would eventually run straight into this location. Climb up the tower in the center of the area. Climb in through the window. Use a knife to unbar the door below. Then, kill the mercenaries hanging out near the door, enter the building, and claim your treasure.
Southern Camp Gear Chest
From the Al-Mi’dhana Al-‘Ateeqa Viewpoint, travel southeast along the coast. You will run into an enemy camp (unimaginatively named the “Southern Camp”). Sneak in through the fence, and the chest will be on the east side of the camp, surrounded by many guards. Thankfully, there is plenty of tall grass to assassinate from.
Spymaster’s Camp Gear Chest
From the Jarjaraya Viewpoint, head south. You will eventually run into the Spymaster’s Camp. While the camp is abandoned, it has been taken over by leopards. The chest is resting on the platform built on top of the tree in the center of the camp.

Scholar’s Estate Gear Chest
The chest itself is in the northern corner of the estate, while the key is found in the southeast corner on the top floor. Approach from the rooftop, and you will be able to largely avoid the guards. After you have the key, keep to the roof, drop down in front of the window in the northmost building, enter through the window with the damaged slat shutter, and move some bookshelves to get to the chest.
Scriptorium Gear Chest
This chest is located on the top floor of the Scriptorium, on the east side of the complex. Start from the roof, jump down onto the balcony below, and deal with the guard inside. The chest will be right there for the taking.
House Of Wisdom Gear Chest
The House of Wisdom Chest will require you to climb up to the roof, work your way through a small army of guards, pickpocket a key, and then make a trick shot through a window to drop a chandelier and break open a hole in the floor. Once you have done all of the above, you will be able to access the Abbasid Knight’s Sword schematic. For a thorough breakdown, read our guide here. It will take you through each step.

The Rostam Sword is directly tethered to the contract quests. You will acquire the sword by first completing the Weapons Dealer Contract. This is an escort mission and will require you to strategically remove guards as you see the merchant to safety. You can read our complete walkthrough for this contract here.
After completing the Weapon’s Dealer Contract, you will be able to take The Slaver Merchant Contract. This slaver will appear in the same harbor where you rescued Beshi’s men. Just mark the slaver with Enkidu, swim into the harbor undetected, and sneak up behind him and stab him. Easy peasy!
If you want the bonus, you will need to set him on fire to kill him. Thankfully, there are a number of explosive vases littering the arena. So, stalk him from the rooftops, and ignite one of those from above with your tools.
The final schematic will be had once you have unlocked The Slave Trader Contract. But here’s the tricky thing, we have not been able to confirm what the prerequisite Contracts are. It was one of the final Contracts to unlock for us. So, if you haven’t unlocked it yet, just keep working through contracts until you do. We wish we could give better advice than that, but a lot of what we have heard swirling around has not, in our experience, been true.

The Shamshir-e Zomorrodnegar is exclusively locked to the Mysterious Shard collectible. The Shamshir-e Zomorrodnegar will cost two shards to unlock. However, unlike most swords, it comes fully upgraded. You won’t be able to start acquiring shards until you reach a certain point in the game—once you have sought out Nehal and uncovered the cavern under the Northern Oasis.
Once you have unlocked the ability to acquire them, three shards aren’t particularly difficult to get. For the location of all the Tha’abeen (the people holding the Mysterious Shards), you can read our complete guide for the Mysterious Chard collectible here.
